Crepelicious Brings French-Inspired Crepes to Rhode Island

By Kelly Church

Inspired by French décor and cuisine, Crepelicious is a Barrington, RI crepe shop that offers a wide variety of sweet and savory menu items. Owned by a woman, Kanjana Chartratanavanich, and her husband, Suriyont Mujjalintrakool, Crepelicious strives to introduce a little bit of European culture to the area.

"We are bringing Paris to Rhode Island," the couple said. "Our décor is welcoming and staff [are] friendly. It's simple but unique fun for kids and adults."

Crepelicious offers dessert crepes and savory crepes. On the dessert crepe menu, customers can find standard sweet crepes, paired with Nutella, chocolate sauce or fruit. Specialty sweet crepes include the S'Moreo, a crepe with Nutella, Oreos, marshmallows and topped with chocolate sauce. The R&B Crepe includes fresh raspberries, brownies, whipped cream and raspberry sauce.

Savory crepes turn crepes into more meal-friendly options. The meat and cheese crepe is the customer's choice of ham or turkey and paired with cheese. There's also a pizza crepe, which combines red sauce, oregano, pepperoni and mozzarella. For a lighter option and drawing inspiration from bruschetta, the caprese crepe combines tomato, basil, mozzarella and balsamic vinegar.

Crepe cakes are a Crepelicious specialty. The cake is made up of several thin layers of crepes, separated by homemade whipped cream. Crepe cakes come in many different flavors, including vanilla, chocolate, green tea and tiramisu. Crepe cakes are available by preorder only.

"We believe we are the only place in Rhode Island that serves crepe cake and Crepelicious honey toast," Chartratanavanich and Mujjalintrakool said. "A must for your first time is a coffee, crepe and then end on a Crepelicious honey toast."

Crepelicious honey toast is a large piece of white toast baked with sweet butter, honey and powdered sugar, topped with ice cream and fresh fruit. The restaurant also offers banana caramel toast, topped with banana, caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream; and choconut toast, topped with Nutella, almonds and chocolate ice cream.

Crepelicious is closed on Tuesdays, but open every other day of the week. To see the full menu, visit crepeliciousri.com.
