Foundation Performance Sports Medicine Invigorates Rhode Island Athletes

By Paul Rowe

Through implementing the latest technologies and techniques available, Foundation Performance Sports Medicine has healed and improved countless athletes in the Pawtucket area, helping them both return to and excel at the healthy activities they love. Time and time again, athletes leave Foundation performing even more efficiently than ever before.

Through physical therapy, Foundation is able to aid its athletes with debilitating physical injuries by identifying their sources of dysfunction or pain and eliminating them for good. Foundation works with local athletes to not only maintain their physical health and fitness, but to prevent injuries. However, it's not always as easy as it sounds. More often than not, athletes discover Foundation after a rough physical injury.

"It is always easier to fix new injuries than ones that have been there for a while as the person has developed compensatory strategies and these now need to be addressed as well," founder and owner Michael Silva said. "The best advice we have to give to someone who has been hurt: be seen right away!"

For Silva and his experienced crew, there is no greater joy than helping people work through their pain and improve their physical health. Not only does Foundation heal its community's athletes, it seeks to empower its community through educating them about how to maintain healthy and active lifestyles.

"I want to give people the power to take care of their own health and not rely on us," Silva said.

Silva finds no bigger compliment than when current clients refer their loved ones to Foundation, entrusting the care of the most cherished people in their lives to Silva and his professional team. It means the world to them. In fact, Foundation credits its continued success over the years to these kinds of intimate referrals. Silva proudly built his entire company solely on word of mouth and community involvement, and he intends to keep it that way.

Although there are many other physical therapists and practices in the Pawtucket area, Foundation has the resources and talent to perform unique services such as needling, cupping, and the Graston technique (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization). Foundation is also home to New England's first Alter G anti-gravity treadmill. Every office at Foundation houses fully functional, innovative exercise areas that keep locals in top physical condition any time of year.

Foundation applies a multi-faceted system of health and rehabilitation specialists to improve the physical performance of every client and offer them the tools needed to achieve just about any personal goal. Through establishing a nurturing work environment and rallying Pawtucket to support its ambitious cause, Foundation's clients are destined to experience positive fitness results for decades to come.
