Get Help with Your Home Flooring: An Interview with Marco Almeida of Valley Floor Covering

By Marco Almeida

Please tell us a little bit about your company and the services you offer.

We are a family owned and operated business. My father, Fred, is usually in the showroom while my brother Rui and I do the installations. We sell and install all types of flooring including hardwoods, ceramic tile and laminate. We handle both residential and commercial work. We also do custom showers and repairs.

What are the biggest decisions that homeowners need to make when it comes to new flooring?

Purchase what you really want. Never settle when it comes to a long-term purchase. Flooring in your home is something that you'll be looking at day in and day out. The last thing you want to have running through your mind when looking at it is "I wish" or "I should've just gotten what I really wanted." Chances are you're not going to be changing your flooring for some time.

Can you briefly list the main steps involved in getting new flooring, from start to finish?

Steps in getting new flooring:

-Call us and set up and appointment to have us come out and measure the area that you want to replace.
-Come down to our showroom to see the many different flooring products that we have to offer.
-Once a decision is made on the new flooring we provide you with an estimate on what it will cost, how long the installation will take and the earliest date we can do the job.

How would you recommend that people choose the right flooring for a particular room in their house?

Amount of traffic and usage is what usually determines what type of flooring to purchase. Some flooring will handle traffic better than others.

What are your favorite flooring products and why are those your favorites?

Out of all of them I love hardwoods and ceramic tile. I enjoy installing them because its more of an art putting them in and I love the final look of these floors.

What advice would you give to people when it comes to their budget for new flooring?

Only the customer knows how much they can spend. As I said before it is your own home so don't settle for anything. Get what you really want to see in your home. Also remember that along with everything else you buy you get what you pay for. If you go cheap it will most likely not hold up the way you would like it to.

What's the best way for people to contact your company?

The best way to contact us is to call us at 401-724-8650 or email us at valleyfloorcoveringri@hotmail.com. We offer free estimates and we are very flexible for appointments to come out and measure for your new flooring and give you advice on what would be best for that area.
