Judi T. Dance Teaches More than Just Movement with Lifelong Student Friendships

By Kelly Church

For more than 40 years, Judi T. Dance has welcomed students of all ages and with all experience levels. The Coventry, RI family owned studio embraces a "creative and professional atmosphere" for students, to encourage development in dance, other life skills and self-esteem. Owner and artistic director Judi Nietupski said dance gives kids an opportunity to develop themselves.

"Dance allows both boys and girls of all ages and even adults to experience and develop an appreciation of the arts, while building respect and pride in their accomplishments," Nietupski said. "Through dance, you will gain lifelong friendships and confidence."

Judi T Dance has all the standard dance classes one could find at any other dance studio. Ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap and lyrical dance are all taught. However, Judi T Dance does offer some more unique classes, including Hawaiian/Polynesian dance, ballroom, and mommy and me classes.

"We are proud to be one of the only dance studios in Rhode Island that studies, performs and teaches traditional Hawaiian and Polynesian dance," Nietupski said.

While most classes must be enrolled in, the studio does offer one drop-in class for $5: Hulacise. This tropical dance class is an hour-long workout that combines hula dancing and fitness to improve cardiovascular fitness while the group has fun. Even people who aren't dancers can attend and benefit from the class.

Nietupski said that the studio has limited enrollment, so they get to know each dancer very personally.

"We love teaching and watching our students strive to be the best that they can be," Nietupski said. "We love challenging them to reach and achieve new and exciting goals and build confidence along the way. We love hearing students say they truly feel a part of our dance family."
